My Name is Vally and I transformed my life with food…I grew up with candy and sweets in my pockets. A chubby kid who ate lots junk food. Naturally, I struggled with weight issues as a teenager and then as an adult. I ate a big Mac everyday for lunch, didn’t move much and kept gaining weight year after year. I wanted so badly to stop the weight gain, I stopped eating all together!
I starved myself. I was afraid to eat. I counted calories. I lost weight. A lot of weight – 30 kilos! But I lost my health too. My hair started to fall, I had no energy and I would faint.
I was doing something wrong and realized this had to change!
I started researching how to eat healthy and found my health coach, Yasmine Defouni – founder of Healthytude. We worked at my pace. I understood the relationship between what I ate and how I felt. I learnt to slowly incorporate healthier foods and habits into my day to day. I started regaining my energy and not the weight. I even made it the gym a few times a week! My colleagues became curious about what I was doing so I gave mini workshops at work. At the same time, my relationship with my health coach grew and I became personally involved in Healthytude.
Today, I am on my way to completing my Health Coach Certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I am taking my journey with health and wellness to the next level by supporting others who are struggling with the same issues. My focus is on teenagers; as that was the time I struggled the most with weight and body image issues. It is also the group I have extensive experience working with through more than 12 years in Scout activity known as “Mouvement Partage” run by Sacre-Coeur. And through my participation in CISV camps where I have received training on leadership, time management, creativity, work life balance, and strength development. Every summer, I spend one month at a camp in a different country with teens from all over the world.
My goal is to create a new fun, creative and different experience to help teenagers understand that there are easy informed choices they can make about what they eat and do that will improve their health and happiness for the long-term. I will partner with Healthytude to create “Healthytude Teens” and can’t wait to share it with you!
